{"id":1465,"date":"2014-07-27T21:21:13","date_gmt":"2014-07-27T21:21:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/139.59.23.56\/predictive3\/?page_id=1465"},"modified":"2020-06-29T15:32:49","modified_gmt":"2020-06-29T15:32:49","slug":"optout-explained","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/help.predictiveresponse.com\/?page_id=1465","title":{"rendered":"FAQ: How does the opt out process work in Predictive?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a id=\"top\"><\/a>There are three different types of opt outs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Opt Out Direct<\/strong>: If a campaign member clicks the unsubscribe link in a campaign email, they are displayed as opt out direct in the campaign that sent the email.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Opt Out Indirect<\/strong>: If a campaign member clicks the unsubscribe link in a campaign email, and they are a member of more than one campaign, the other campaigns are updated with a reason of Opt Out Indirect.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Opt Out Previous<\/strong>: If a member was already opted out prior to being added to a campaign, they are listed in the campaign as Opt Out Previous.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Opt Out Subscription<\/strong>: If you are using our Subscription Page feature and a member unchecks a subscription, they will have a reason of Opt Out Subscription.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Opt Out information is displayed in several locations in Salesforce:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Campaign Member section on the Salesforce campaign page &#8211; Reason column,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/help.predictiveresponse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/camapign-members.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1686\" src=\"https:\/\/help.predictiveresponse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/camapign-members.gif\" alt=\"camapign members\" width=\"1656\" height=\"174\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Campaign History section on the Salesforce lead\/contact record &#8211; Reason column.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/help.predictiveresponse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/campaign-history.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1687\" src=\"https:\/\/help.predictiveresponse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/campaign-history.gif\" alt=\"campaign history\" width=\"1631\" height=\"143\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Opt Out Rates are displayed on the Salesforce campaign page, and<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/help.predictiveresponse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/campaign-page.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1696\" src=\"https:\/\/help.predictiveresponse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/campaign-page.gif\" alt=\"campaign page\" width=\"975\" height=\"166\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>the Email Editions section on the Salesforce campaign page.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/help.predictiveresponse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/email-stats.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1689\" src=\"https:\/\/help.predictiveresponse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/email-stats.gif\" alt=\"email stats\" width=\"742\" height=\"43\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We also provide reports that can be run to provide this information for multiple campaigns as desired.<\/p>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: right;\"><a href=\"#top\">Back to Top<\/a><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#global\">Scenario #1: Global OptOut from email<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#campaign\">Scenario #2: Campaign OptOut from email<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#button\">Scenario #3: Campaign member sends opt out request without using the unsubscribe link in an email<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#subs\">Scenario #4: Subscription Page<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1><a id=\"global\"><\/a>Scenario #1: Global OptOut from email<\/h1>\n<p>If you use an unsubscribe page that provides a Global OptOut (such as the default Predictive Response page) and the Campaign Member clicks the unsubscribe link in an email from Campaign #1:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Member status changes to Inactive with Opt Out Direct reason in Salesforce and Predictive is updated to stop sending emails from this campaign<\/li>\n<li>Email Opt Out box is checked in the lead\/contact record<\/li>\n<li>If the Lead\/Contact is a member of any other campaigns, then the member status is changed to inactive and Opt Out Indirect reason is used in the campaign so that emails stop sending.<\/li>\n<li>If the lead\/contact is added to another campaign after this occurs, then the status is set to inactive with Opt Out Previous reason and no emails are sent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: right;\"><a href=\"#top\">Back to Top<\/a><\/h6>\n<h1><a id=\"campaign\"><\/a>Scenario #2: Campaign OptOut from email<\/h1>\n<p>If you use a custom unsubscribe page with two options; global opt out and this list only opt out, and campaign member selects the this list only option:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Member status changes to Inactive with Opt Out Subscription reason in Salesforce and Predictive is updated to stop sending emails from this campaign only<\/li>\n<li>Email Opt Out box is not checked in the lead\/contact record<\/li>\n<li>Lead\/Contact can be added to any other campaigns with Active status<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: right;\"><a href=\"#top\">Back to Top<\/a><\/h6>\n<h1><a id=\"button\"><\/a>Scenario #3: Campaign member sends opt out request without using the unsubscribe link in an email<\/h1>\n<p>Open the lead\/contact record and click the Opt Out button:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Campaign member status in all campaigns is changed to Inactive with Opt Out Indirect reason<\/li>\n<li>Email Opt Out box is checked on the lead\/contact record<\/li>\n<li>If the lead\/contact is added to any other campaign after this occurs, member status is set to Inactive with Opt Out Previous reason<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The process can be reversed by clicking the Opt In button.<\/p>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: right;\"><a href=\"#top\">Back to Top<\/a><\/h6>\n<h1><a id=\"subs\"><\/a>Scenario #4: Subscription Page<\/h1>\n<p>If you are using a subscription page, member clicks the Manage My Subscriptions link in the email and un-checks a box for a subscription:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Member status in all associated campaigns is set to Inactive with Opt Out Subscription reason<\/li>\n<li>Subscriber Choices section on lead\/contact record indicates Unsubscribed\u00a0status<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Campaign members can also globally opt out of all emails from the subscription page if desired.<\/p>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: right;\"><a href=\"#top\">Back to Top<\/a><\/h6>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are three different types of opt outs: Opt Out Direct: If a campaign member clicks the unsubscribe link in a campaign email, they are displayed as opt out direct in the campaign that sent the email.
